Supplemental Reading

We recommend this book in addition to our collection. This book is written by Hope McCardy’s sister, Eula E. Bourne. Although it is not a Color Me Reading book technically, we believe its content lines up with everything Brooke & Lee stands for.

This book is a poem describing nature as a part of God’s creation and answers the question, “Where does it all come from?” Have you ever asked the question, “Is God really there, as you look at all the wonders of nature, everywhere?”

This book is recommended for ages 4 to 8 years old.

We also recommend this book. It is written by Hope McCardy’s brother, Gregory Burrows. It, like God’s Handiwork, is not a Color Me Reading book but it is fun book about Bahamian culture and based on a true story from the days when Hope and Greg were children.

This book is a story of a child trying to climb a coconut tree on the Island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. GB, an adventurous young boy, usually felt most at home in his “own world,” where exciting adventures took place.

This book is recommended for ages 4 to 8 years old.

Let’s Swim Bahamas is the initiative of Andy and Nancy Knowles, who have committed most of their lives to swimming, initially as competitive swimmers and then successfully running their own swim club, Swift Swimming, for over 30 years. The Let’s Swim Bahamas program was started in October 2008 with a pilot program for Thelma Gibson Primary School.

Color Me Reading was given the special honor of writing and composing the Let’s Swim Bahamas Jingle. We feel quite privileged to partner with Andy and Nancy and their hardworking team as they seek to save lives by teaching children (and adults) how to swim.
